About the Role
The Development, Data and Analytics Team provides development platforms and enterprise data through our Data Warehouses. This position supports OLTP SQL Servers and our Business Intelligence server associated with company applications. We maintain a dedicated team of DBAs focused on the successful adoption of Business Intelligence tools throughout the organization.Our officially supported BI tools are: SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau, and Power BI. Our infrastructure includes both On-Premises SQL servers and cloud-based databases in Azure and Snowflake.
This position combines production support with new project work, including a mix of maintenance tasks, standard operations, and small to large-scale initiatives.
Scope of Work
This Senior DBA contractor position provides analysis, design, development, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for our databases and servers, including On-Premises SQL Servers, Azure Cloud, and Snowflake. You will also provide Tableau Server administration and Power BI Reporting Services (PBIRS) Server administration expertise.Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of IT Database Administration experience
- Must pass a criminal history records check
- Azure Cloud experience (Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards, Azure Blob Storage)
- Snowflake Platform administration
- Tableau Server administration
- PBIRS (Power BI Reporting Services) Server administration
Core Competencies
- Advanced experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure SQL Server
- Advanced DBA expertise across both On-Premises and Cloud environments (Azure and Snowflake)
- Advanced experience collaborating with developers to design and build ETLs for reporting data loads
- Advanced PBIRS Server administration, including upgrades and ongoing support
- Advanced Tableau Server administration
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage large-scale databases and data warehousing solutions
- Perform database architecture and develop technical standards for large-scale databases across enterprise platforms
- Troubleshoot problems and provide technical assistance to developers and database users
- Manage project coordination and integrate data from multiple database platforms and providers
- Define project scope, objectives, and outcomes; develop and recommend solutions; problem-solve and build consensus with stakeholders
- Maintain database integrity and security; coordinate software installations, upgrades, and patches
- Design, implement, and schedule physical and logical database backups; plan and execute database restoration and recovery procedures
- Develop database scripts and triggers; migrate data across development, testing, and production environments
- Monitor, adjust, and optimize space utilization and database performance
- Serve as a subject matter expert in database architecture and technical standards for large-scale data warehousing
